Geek DIY: Video Game and Movie Weapons, Part II

A couple of summers, I posted about homemade weapons inspired by movies and video games. At the bottom of that post, I included a YouTube video of one man’s Wolverine claws. Well, someone has outdone him, and it begins my second DIY post on homemade geek weaponry.

In the interest of keeping RofG away from lawsuits, I am going to mention that these weapons are dangerous and the creators assume their own risks. I do not encourage anyone to play with sharp objects, charged electrical devices, or chemical anything without proper training. Or at least one adult nearby.

Wolverine’s Claws

Wolverine didn’t have to wear an air compressor on his back to get his claws to extend and retract, but Colin manages to make it look fun anyway. Too much fun really, I wonder if he should be trusted around such a dangerous weapon… Thanks to Techcrunch for running this wonderful GIF.

And Crazy Colin doesn’t stop there. He has since gone on to create some magnetic shoes for walking upside down.

[edit May 30th, 2014] Colin doesn’t quit. Now he’s shooting fire from his wrists, too?

Robocop

Shawn Thorsson is a props and costumes master. He’s created the one weapon any right-minded citizen should: a self-defending robot. Read the making of series of articles at Makezine. Once Omnicorp works through beta-testing, these robots will replace all police in Detroit, resulting in a serious reduction in crime.

Assassin’s Creed Style Arm Blade

Eric likes to live dangerously. I base this on nothing other than he keeps sharp objects up his sleeves. Combining a drawer slide, a spring from a screen door, and a throwing knife he quickly becomes one of America’s most unnecessarily armed and dangerous men. He even provides instructions.

Angelegend (his YouTube name) has dozens of these home made weapons and costumes on his video channel.
